I've never driven a manual before!! posted by: badaunt (reply) post date: 04.01.05 (9:42 am) I wondered where you were! (Actually I thought maybe you were one of the idle rich and had been skiing for a month.) I had the same problem with automatic. Everybody made it worse by telling me it was EASY, MUCH EASIER THAN A MANUAL! so I ended up feeling like an idiot as well as incompetent and pissed off with the non-responsive car. posted by: lynne (reply) post date: 04.01.05 (7:59 pm) Oddly, I dont really notice too much if I am driving a manual vs an automatic. I guess I am used to driving both. I prefer a manual because it lets me get more power out of the engine when I need it but I am almost just as comfortable with a stick shift. posted by: NurseNancy (reply) post date: 04.02.05 (4:41 am) I learned to drive manual, and hated having to change the gears by hand. The automatic, with cruise control is the only way this nurse gets to work now!! posted by: Mimi (reply) post date: 04.02.05 (5:42 am) i'm just glad to know that you are ok and still out there! xoxox posted by: Andaloo (reply) post date: 04.02.05 (6:10 am) Reply to: badaunt No, we idle poor only go skiing for a few days at a time. posted by: Andaloo (reply) post date: 04.02.05 (6:12 am) Reply to: lynne And I'll bet you can pat your head and rub your belly too. posted by: Andaloo (reply) post date: 04.02.05 (6:14 am) Reply to: NurseNancy Automatic AND cruise control! Isn't it boring to drive? posted by: Andaloo (reply) post date: 04.02.05 (6:16 am) Reply to: Mimi Aww thanks Mimi. I was just being selfish for a while...it does you good now and again. posted by: NurseNancy (reply) post date: 04.03.05 (4:58 am) Reply to: Andaloo not if you are driving on these roads. Being on the look out for drivers with road rage, hoping no one is in a shooting mood and trying to arrive alive is enough excitement for me!! posted by: Verlaine (reply) post date: 04.04.05 (6:13 pm) My favorite dumb thing I do when I drive an automatic transmission is to lift my left leg up from the floor and then push the brake pedal completely down to the floor as though it were the clutch. I did this once while exiting a freeway in Detroit while my mother was a passenger. After she retrieved her head from the hood ornament, she said, "my car is an automatic, sweety" posted by: grateful1 (reply) post date: 04.04.05 (9:19 pm) haaha thats funny. i cant drive stick if it was going to save my life..lol!! i tired and got it right the first time but everytime after that i couldnt do it!!So my husband took the standard back and got me an automatic!! ahh how i love automatic..lol!!hope all is well with you!! posted by: SusanofPudlin (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (10:01 am) Well hallelujah and pass the ammunition. I thought I might have to come extract you from a snowbank. |
