Village life cont'
09.14.04 (7:23 am)   [edit]

Just recently I’ve noticed that our mail is arriving at odd times, even to Spanish standards. One morning I was woken up at 6am as a letter was pushed under the front door, the other day I met Chico (the postman) at 10pm as I took out the rubbish and took a bundle of mail from him.

One of my neighbours is having a new bathroom fitted and she invited me in to take a look at the work in progress. The room had been completely gutted, and there, up to his waist in rubble was Chico. It appears our postman is also the village handyman (makes a mental note), and juggles the two jobs. He explained the mail was all kept safe and he did his best to get it delivered as soon as he could.

Life is best when it’s kept simple. At times like this I can feel my roots growing, I love living here!

I would be completely shocked to see my mailman delivering mail that late at night...but I live in a different world...lol

I'm sure it wouldn't even be allowed in other places, but it's the simplicity of life here which is so refreshing.

I do agree..even though nowaday I still can't let go light, sound and pollution of the big city. Wish that one day I could feel the same way.

It must give you a nice small-town sort of feeling. I only ever see that sort of thing in movies. I don't even know all of the people who live in my own street!

We recently got a new postie. First our neighbour (the madwoman) got all our bills, and since we called to complain about that, now we're getting all her bills.

I think your postie probably does a better job. Jobs.

I understand that completely. Every now and then I have to get a fix of city life, I think I always will.
Anyway, it'd be much more difficult to behave badly if you lived outside your city!

I've only lived here for six months, and not only do I know most people who ive in the village, I know their aunts, uncles, third cousins twice removed. Actually, it's such a shallow gene pool here they're all related to each other at least once.

I would take him up on his remodeling services as soon as possible so that he might go easy on you if ever you find yourself in his courtroom. :)
