Of headlines and fabric
07.27.04 (8:40 am)   [edit]
The following headline is real, and taken from BBC news this morning:

"You may be married! S Africa women urged to check regularly"

It caught my attention because I wondered what they were to do? Check their bodies for signs of boredom perhaps, or see if shelves have been put up badly somewhere.

I heard on the radio yesterday that they’re making a new series of “Queer Eye For A Straight Guy”, but this time it’s going to be “Straight Eye For A Queer Guy”. Gay men will be taught how to walk properly, wear checked shirts and Chinos and buy fabric without screaming “it’s to die for!” I know, I know…its not funny…well actually it is, VERY!

I dont know why people have so much fun with sexuality stereotypes these days but hey, what can you do? All I know is that I found out the hard way not to wear khaki pants and a wife beater to the lesbian bar if I expect anyone to believe me when I say I am not gay. ;)

Hi Andaloo-

Yes, I'm baaack! Been on a sailing trip with family.

They are already showing that series here in the US, calling it "Straight Plan for the Gay Man". I determinedly click the TV to 'off' when either show appears, but my teenage daughter tells me they are both funny. It doesn't take much to amuse her, though! On second thought, I like puns (supposedly the lowest form of humor), so who am I to talk?

I heard an ad for "QEFTSG" that they are doing the most wonderful wedding reception! I bet that it is going to be every little girls dream reception!!! Probably more beautiful than any "royal" family ever created!

LOL I bet your dance card was full! You know it must be hundreds of years since I was last in a gay bar, I wouldn't have a clue what the "uniform" is these days.

Helllooo! I was wondering where you'd got to.

I've never seen the programme but imagine it's just harmless fun.

When we got "hitched" last year the whole reception caper was already BIG business. From groom and groom cake toppers to rainbow baseball caps complete with vails you could have the lot. *groan*
